A pink cat house by KC Design Studio is dedicated to a couple’s love for their three cats. Cat-friendly features include cat ladders, a carousel climbing frame and a fluffy swing, all of which are in pink. With careers in graphic design and fashion, the cat-loving couple have cultivated a passion for bold and unusual design.
The global lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many rediscovering and embracing the comforts of home. Inspired by the notion of bringing nature back to urban living, Christos Pavlou Architecture envisioned a two-story residence in Nicosia, Cyprus filled with pockets of green open spaces in the effort to improve living conditions and maintain urban biodiversity by encouraging the return of local bird species and bees.
Culture and tradition are two unshakable pillars of family and identity that may erode over time. To preserve and bridge culture into their next phase of life, the homeowners of a 40-year-old corner terrace home called upon the creative services of UPSTAIRS_ to reform their home for the future. Through the consultation, it was determined that the homeowners were deeply entrenched in the history of Chinese culture yet envisioned a home that incorporated elements of modern architecture.
Ever since the early 90’s when Zouk first opened its doors, the club has upheld the beach dance club cultures of Ibiza and urban underground rave clubs, enabling the lifestyles of house music lovers till date. As the curtain calls on Zouk’s 25 years reign at Jiak Kim Street in 2016, there is rejoice in the air that the good times will continue to roll within their new premises at Clarke Quay.
Perched on one of the rolling hills of Bukit Timah, this three-storey property is tailored to the demands of entertaining, art collecting and raising a precocious toddler. The house’s interior tone and artistic aspirations are evident on entry. Thanks to the attentiveness and design directions from Elements ID founder Victor Ng.
What stands out in particular in Mantab Workplace is its gleaming bold façade. Looming over the quiet suburban street, the gold-copper alloy façade rises up from the building’s ground level in shielding its interior furtively. The project by S/LAB 10 entailed a complete internal overhaul of an existing bungalow.
Interior design is all about translating the needs of a homeowner into a functional part of the home and at times those expectations do not match up when placed in the hands of an inexperienced design team. After collecting the keys to their two-storied inter-terrace, the homeowners justifiably confided in the design team of CAD Associates to manage their design needs for a resort feel within their new landed home.
Near Reynosa, Mexico lies the small town of Torreon where an owner has made home for the last 30 years. Granted, childhood homes are particularly iffy projects to handle especially since it deals with nostalgia and the collection of memories embedded within the walls and rooms of the house.
Located in the XiXi Wetland Park of Hangzhou in Eastern China, Y20 is a mixed use office space surrounded by natural scenery and features a unique Y-shaped interior layout. Property owner Alcai Technology had envisioned the 700 square meters of Y20 Space as more than just an office building, but a community space for work, business conferences and events, before entrusting the task to WJ Design.
It is the mark of good design when a new construct feels well grounded.Designed by Mumbai-based studio Sanjay Puri Architects, volumes within volumes lend each functional part of Office@63 their own identity. Stepping inside the office situated in Navi Mumbai, the design dialogue becomes instantly apparent through the sheer openness of the space.
