Sitting on an approximated 6,000 square metres of a tranquil park land in Bishan, the Aramsa Spa is surrounded by a densely populated housing estate. Consisting of 11 single storey buildings, 7 of these would be converted to accommodate an integrated day spa facility.

Diagrammatically, a network of curves is superimposed over the grid of the existing structures, slicing the compound into distinct zones. The curves form stratums of spaces, with the zones filtering through the curved layers, thereby increasing levels of privacy. The different stratums of spaces are interspersed with distinctive gardens, also defined by the curves. The spaces are all extroverted with views out to the interspersed gardens, “extending” the landscape into the interiors. Within some interiors, trees and plants literally emerged into spaces. As one circulate through the spaces, one is constantly viewing gardens in the foreground while silvers of openings and lattices in the curved walls suggest other interspersed gardens in the background and the private stratums beyond.
