Located in Dazhai Village, Xiamen, Xiangyu Xiangyuan B&B is steeped in traditional Fujian architecture fused with contemporary touches. The 1 200 square metres property is composed of three traditional houses and two new buildings, which juxtapose the old and new into a single architectural narrative. The team at The Design Institute Of Landscape & Architecture China Academy Of Art had envisoned the property as a quaint guest house which promises visitors a rural experience with modern-day comforts.
The Salt Box Residence is a 2,400 square foot home sited in the low-lying, flood-prone salt marshes of New Jersey’s Barnegat Bay. The client’s brief to Parnagian Architects was to design a lasting replacement for a multi-generational family home that had been damaged beyond repair during Hurricane Sandy. The site is situated at the end of a small peninsula, bound directly to the west by a commercial shipyard and marina, and to the north, south, and east by expansive views of the Barnegat Bay.
Today’s minimalism design is different from the clean-lined perfection of the past. Instead of an idealized idea of the absence of things, contemporary minimalism in interior design today is about eradicating personality and imperfections in favour of a utopian and anti-individual ‘ideal state’. For this couple with a young child and a newborn, the atypical Minimalist home called KOA apartment, is their dream space materialized. Their wish was to have a home that is free of the norm, and is defined by their notion of how they wish to live.

Local interior design studio CAD Associates was appointed the challenging task to create a store that will entice customers off the internet and into the physical space.
Inspired from famous cafes in Thailand, Shanghai and Korea, the vibrant café-theme was recreated using a soothing pastel palette, wood panels, rattan, wallpapers and marble. Singapore-based interior design firm Mr Shopper Studio was presented with the project during challenging times that was the circuit breaker in 2020, to renovate an apartment into a practical and conducive home for a young couple.
