DPD International

         

DPD International has its root in DP Design, an interior design outfit formed in1982. Since then, the company has been responsible for crafting the nation’s iconic landmarks such as The Esplanade, HDB Hub and Singapore Flyer.

Based on a strong operational base founded on principles embodying a holistic approach to its design philosophy which encompasses not only fulfilling the requirement of a project but also a wider environmental, social and cultural realm. Hallmarks of a project by the company exhibit strong elements of people centricity, fusion of past and present traditions, creation of ambience that evoke sensory and emotional responses to all users.

To date, DPD international has undertaken numerous projects in various parts of the world notably in China, Indonesia, India, Dubai, Myanmar and Vietnam. Prior to commencement of the design process in depth studies were made on the historical, cultural and lifestyle of these countries. The interpretation of these in a contemporary context gave each design their uniqueness that reflects their time and place.

The Esplanade – Theaters on the bay

The Esplanade Theaters on the Bay has many areas that provide good connectivity between the interior and exterior environment. A generous promenade fronting the Marina Bay serves as a waterfront respite where outdoor performances are held.

The two main performance venues are designed to be visually rich and exciting in contrast with the relative restraint of the foyers. Designed to be the most acoustically sensitive room, the concert hall is finished in wood; fabric covered high-density gypsum panels and textured concrete. Like a musical instrument, it can be tuned with the help of the acoustic canopy, the reverrberation chamber doors and acoustic banners to suit a variety of performances ranging from a flute solo to a large orchestra.

A development situated at the intersection of past and future, the Esplanade is the result of marrying advanced technology and Asian cultures. A national icon, the building expresses the aesthetics aspirations of a complex and confident nation.
